Implementation of circular economy models at UNIPACK-V Ltd. through the introduction of a new cutting plotter
30.1.2025
In its commitment to sustainable development and optimisation of production processes, UNIPACK-V Ltd. is planning a significant investment in a new cutting plotter, which will enable the introduction of circular economy models and a substantial reduction of waste.
With the implementation of the new equipment, the company will achieve a reduction in the amount of raw materials used per unit of product. The technology of the new cutting plotter is fully automated, featuring automatic sheet recognition and precise repeatability of the cutting process. Currently, sheet cutting is carried out manually, which leads to inefficient material usage and the generation of offcuts. With the new plotter, the cutting process will be digitalised and optimised, reducing waste from 10% to as low as 1.5% and increasing production output by 8.5% using the same quantity of raw material.
The cutting process with the existing assets is imprecise and often results in incomplete or low-quality cuts. After the introduction of the new cutting plotter, products will be processed entirely automatically, with minimal risk of human error. This will ensure accurate and high-quality cuts, eliminating waste caused by poor processing. In addition, the implementation of the new asset will significantly reduce the use of die-cutting tools, which currently generate additional production waste.
At present, waste generated from the operations of UNIPACK-V Ltd. amounts to no less than 0.1 tonnes of metals and plastics per year. With the introduction of the new equipment, the company will be able to eliminate the generation of 0.1 tonnes of waste annually and prevent the emission of approximately 0.23 tonnes of CO2 associated with waste processing.
This project represents an important step towards the implementation of circular production models and will contribute to a more sustainable and efficient industrial environment.
