Why design is critical for your packaging

Design is the first and most important step toward a corrugated and carton packaging solution that truly works. At this stage, we define how the packaging will protect the product, how it will be stacked on a pallet, how it will be transported, and how it will look in the retail environment. The better the design, the more efficient every next process becomes, including structural engineering, printing, and production.

How we work at the design stage

We start with a detailed discussion about your product, logistics chain, and sales channel. Based on this information, we select the appropriate corrugated board type, packaging format, and required level of protection. Our goal is to find the right balance between strength, weight, cost, and visual presentation.

During the design stage, we focus on:

  • Product dimensions and shape – single items, sets, bundles, or display solutions.
  • Transport and storage – packing into cartons, palletisation, and container loading, as well as carrier requirements.
  • Storage conditions – humidity, temperature ranges, and potential impacts or vibrations.
  • Marketing goals – branding, shelf visibility, and the need for windows, inserts, or additional elements.

From idea to a working prototype

Once the task is defined, we develop a 2D drawing and a 3D visualisation of the packaging. This gives you a realistic view of how the carton or die-cut item will look, how it is assembled, and how the product sits inside. When needed, we propose multiple options, such as a more compact version for optimal pallet efficiency and a more presentation-focused version for display purposes.

Before serial production, we produce a physical sample for testing to verify dimensions, ease of assembly, and packaging stability during transport. At this stage, final adjustments can be made, so you can be confident the final solution fully meets your requirements.

What you receive at the end

  • Packaging aligned with your product, logistics chain, and budget.
  • Optimised material usage and lower cardboard consumption.
  • Clear documentation including drawings, dimensions, and assembly instructions.
  • Readiness for the next stages, including structural engineering, printing, and production.

If you are preparing a new product launch or want to optimise existing packaging, the design stage is the right place to start. Contact us to discuss your specific requirements and the best available options.
